A Program Under the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States

Admission to St. Athanasius Theological Seminary takes the steps below, all completed online. Steps 1–4 are required for your application to be reviewed; step 5 applies once you are accepted. (Note: Continuing students do not reapply — they only complete the online semester registration each semester.)

Submit the program application

Fill out the online program application form. Right after you submit it, you will receive an email with your personal submission link — you will use that link for steps 2 and 4.

Upload your personal statement

Write up to 750 words describing the services you currently perform in your church and your reasons for wanting to attend the Theological Seminary Program. Upload it as a Word document or PDF using your personal submission link from step 1.

Priest recommendation letter

Nothing to send yourself — the priest you named on your application automatically receives an email with a private link to a confidential online recommendation form. His answers go directly to Student Affairs. It helps to let your priest know to expect the email.

Upload a copy of your highest degree

Upload a copy of the highest degree you have earned — at minimum a high school diploma — using the same personal submission link from step 1. A PDF, Word document, or clear photo is accepted.

Register for a semester

Once accepted into the program, you register online for each upcoming semester here.

Your application is reviewed once all materials are received, and you will be notified of your admission status by email. Application deadlines: March 15 for the Spring Semester and June 15 for the Fall Semester.
